Frequently Asked Questions
The questions we hear every week at the counter, answered the way we answer them in person.
Estimates & Scheduling
Are estimates really free?
Yes. Phone ballparks, on-site measures and written quotes all cost you nothing anywhere in our service area.
How far out are you scheduling?
Repairs usually land within the week. Custom fabrication (showers, mirrors, fencing) runs 2 to 5 weeks depending on tempering and hardware lead times. Ask about our current board when you call.
Do you offer emergency service?
We run 24-hour board-up for storm damage and break-ins, then fast-track the permanent glass.
Do you charge trip fees?
Not inside our standard service area, which covers essentially all of Benton and Washington counties.
Glass & Safety
What is the difference between tempered and laminated glass?
Tempered glass is heat-treated so it crumbles into small granules when broken. Laminated glass is two lites bonded to an interlayer so it stays in the opening even when cracked. Doors and showers typically use tempered; overhead glazing, some railings and security applications use laminated.
What is safety glazing and where is it required?
Safety glazing (tempered or laminated glass meeting CPSC 16 CFR 1201) is required in doors, tub and shower surrounds, glass near walking surfaces and other hazardous locations. We glaze all of these to code automatically.
What is low-iron glass?
Glass made with reduced iron content, removing the green tint you see on the edge of standard clear glass. It is the premium choice for showers, pool fences and display work where true color matters.
Why is my double-pane window foggy inside?
The IGU (insulated glass unit) seal has failed and humid air has entered the airspace. The fix is a new sealed unit in your existing frame, not a whole new window.
Pool Fencing & Railings
Is frameless glass fencing legal around Arkansas pools?
Yes, when it meets barrier code: minimum 48" height, openings that reject a 4" sphere, and self-closing, self-latching gates. We engineer every fence to those requirements and support your inspection.
How strong is a glass pool fence?
Panels are 1/2" tempered structural glass on marine-grade stainless hardware, engineered for wind and impact loads well beyond residential requirements.
Do glass railings meet deck code?
Our systems are engineered for the standard 200 lb concentrated and 50 plf guard loads. Frameless designs without a top rail use laminated glass so a broken panel stays in place.
Commercial
Do you work with general contractors and property managers?
Daily. We bid from plans, carry the insurance and documentation GCs expect, and run scheduled storefront maintenance for property managers.
Can you match existing storefront framing?
Standard anodized finishes match directly and painted systems can be color-matched. We also source discontinued-profile lookalikes when a system is no longer made.
Do you provide energy code documentation?
Yes. Replacement IGUs come specified by U-factor and SHGC with the paperwork your inspector wants to see.
